Feline Herpes Questions – Cat Forum : Cat Discussion Forums

The flare ups often go into secondary infection which the antibiotics will clear up, but the herpes remains. It weakens the immune system causing them to get colds (URI), and other symptoms. I got to wondering about bringing one into my home, though, with Miss Penny who has Herpes and currently takes 250 mg Viralys daily and 500 mg with persistent symptoms. The immune system is a complex process that is continuously under attack and should be supported in order to maintain a cat’s good health and resistance to infections. Not all the kittens would be affected but it was something I was seeing repeatedly with litters. “},”ElectronicsComputersPanel”:{“promoID”:”nav-sa-electronics-computers”,”template”:{“name”:”itemList”,”data”:{“text”:”Electronics & Computers”,”items”:[{“text”:”Electronics”,”items”:[{“text”:”TV & Video”,”url”:”/Televisions-Video/b?ie=UTF8&node=1266092011″},{“text”:”Home Audio & Theater”,”url”:”/Home-Audio-Electronics/b?ie=UTF8&node=667846011″},{“text”:”Camera, Photo & Video”,”url”:”/Camera-Photo-Film-Canon-Sony/b?ie=UTF8&node=502394″},{“text”:”Cell Phones & Accessories”,”url”:”/cell-phones-service-plans-accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=2335752011″},{“text”:”Headphones”,”url”:”/Headphones-Accessories-Supplies/b?ie=UTF8&node=172541″},{“text”:”Video Games”,”url”:”/computer-video-games-hardware-accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=468642″},{“text”:”Bluetooth & Wireless Speakers”,”url”:”/Multiroom-Digital-Music-Systems/b?ie=UTF8&node=322215011″},{“text”:”Car Electronics”,”url”:”/Car-Electronics/b?ie=UTF8&node=1077068″},{“text”:”Musical Instruments”,”url”:”/musical-instruments-accessories-sound-recording/b?ie=UTF8&node=11091801″},{“subtext”:”Available in select areas”,”text”:”Internet, TV and Phone Services”,”url”:”/TV-Internet-Home-Phone-Subscription-Services/b?ie=UTF8&node=13295274011″},{“text”:”Wearable Technology”,”url”:”/b?ie=UTF8&node=9013937011″},{“text”:”Electronics Showcase”,”url”:”/electronics-store/b?ie=UTF8&node=172282″}]},{“text”:”Computers”,”columnBreak”:”1″,”items”:[{“text”:”Computers & Tablets”,”url”:”/Computers-Tablets/b?ie=UTF8&node=13896617011″},{“text”:”Monitors”,”url”:”/Monitors-Computers-Accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=1292115011″},{“subtext”:”For computers, laptops & tablets”,”text”:”Accessories”,”url”:”/Computer-Accessories-Supplies/b?ie=UTF8&node=172456″},{“text”:” Networking “,”url”:”/Networking-Computer-Add-Ons-Computers/b?ie=UTF8&node=172504″},{“text”:”Drives & Storage”,”url”:”/Hard-Drives-Storage/b?ie=UTF8&node=2248325011″},{“text”:”Computer Parts & Components”,”url”:”/PC-Parts-Components/b?ie=UTF8&node=193870011″},{“subtext”:”Downloads, subscriptions & more”,”text”:”Software”,”url”:”/design-download-business-education-software/b?ie=UTF8&node=229534″},{“text”:”Printers & Ink”,”url”:”/Printers-Office-Electronics/b?ie=UTF8&node=172635″},{“text”:”Office & School Supplies”,”url”:”/office-products-supplies-electronics-furniture/b?ie=UTF8&node=1064954″},{“text”:”Trade In Your Electronics”,”url”:”/Electronics-Trade-In/b?ie=UTF8&node=2226766011″}]}]}}},”accountListContent”:{“html”:””},”FireTvPanel”:{“promoID”:”nav-sa-fire-tv”,”template”:{“name”:”itemList”,”data”:{“text”:”Fire TV”,”items”:[{“text”:”Watch and Play”,”items”:[{“subtext”:”4K Ultra HD streaming media player with voice search”,”text”:”Amazon Fire TV”,”url”:”/dp/B00U3FPN4U”},{“subtext”:”The next generation of our bestselling Fire TV Stick”,”text”:”All-New Fire TV Stick”,”url”:”/dp/B00ZV9RDKK”},{“subtext”:”Easy, affordable gaming for your HDTV”,”text”:”Amazon Fire TV Gaming Edition”,”url”:”/dp/B00XNQECFM”},{“subtext”:”No cable required. If you have lost a pet (either temporarily or permanently) and have at least one other pet in your household, and would like to contribute to this pet loss survey, they would really appreciate it.

I wouldn’t want to either. This is a public forum viewed by a wide spectrum of people, so please be mindful of what you say and who might be reading it—details of personal disputes are likely better handled privately. And I noticed afterwards, sneezing cats, etc, running eyes. When she was eating commercial food, for the first year of her life, her black fur was dull, coarse, and full of dandruff. And I got a lovely moggy! The vet estimated them to be between 4 to 5 weeks old. Kidneys and bladder can fill to the point of rupture.

I took my cat Harley, a 2 year old male siamese lynx-point, to the vet last Wednesday, for an eye infection that he had once again (feline herpes related). i don’t have a cat but just wanted to give you some info on FOPS or Trigeminl Neuralgia. I can’t find anything~ any comments would be helpful! I think the texture would be the major difference between the… He already had the swelling for about 3 to 4 days before we went to the vet. We have him on Famvir (one a day) to try & boost his immune system & an antibiotic to tackle any bacteria infection (runny eye & nose at the moment). The clinical signs vary and range from mild conjunctivitis to severe corneal ulceration with perforation and loss of the eye.

As I posted in that post, I did order a Feliway. Vaccines are available for some infectious agents and can prevent infection or lessen clinical illness when infection occurs. I think I’ve read that up to 80% of cats have been exposed to the feline herpes virus and they can have URI symptoms when subjected to stress–like being in a shelter or a change in venue (like an adoption)–but most of them eventually get the virus under control and the symptoms disappear. I’ve posted this on other forums but there seems to be move activity here. I never take any drugs I’m given by a doc (except antibiotics) until I’ve checked into them. So when we kinda inherited him from a neighbor and found out that he had FIV, FHV, and a history of frequent upper respiratory infections, the vet advised us to always keep him separated from Oscar, the indoor cat we already had. I have a happy, healthy indoor cat who likes to spend a little time outside as well.

The hardest part of my reading here over the last year are the large number of posts from people who can’t afford vet visits. They have had shots, which I am told only relieves the symptoms, not a cure. Since your felines are showing both upper respiratory and eye involvement, I’m going to assume it’s herpesvirus. I’m really terrified of them finding something majorly wrong with my baby. When I first got my cat 3 years ago, she was very healthy. She’s had it for a couple days. For example, Jake was coughing, etc., but Alley was perfectly fine for quite a while – except for a little sneezing here and there.

The Entry Clerk/Clubs will not be responsible for entries lost due to communication errors. 2 are litter mates, and the other is their mama. Therefore, diagnosis and proper treatment is very important. Just joined this forum as it kept coming up when I was searching for an answer to this. I went out the front door to see if I recognized the other cat, as there are a few other cats in my neighborhood.
